Approximate time until complete melt of each ice cap at current mass loss rates. In reality the highlands will remain ice covered much longer and high mountains until the sun becomes much hotter.

The modern human species 'homo sapiens' is only 200,000 years old. By the time East Antarctica melts out your decendants might not even be human anymore.

Sea level rise is always pictured as the destruction of all our coastal cities. If only we were as intelligent as medival Italians we should have no problem building something like in this picture.

And in case we've become too stupid to adapt there is also the element of time. If you are of European ancentry and don't mourn the loss of Doggerland 8500 years ago then our decendants won't mourn the loss of our current coastal cities.
