The media loves stories about icesheets losing billions of tons of ice. However most of it is gained over the winter as snowfall
and as a whole the ice sheet is almost unchanged.
Since all images have the same 250 meter per pixel resolution you don't need any math to figure out which processes change the earth surface more.

This area is in northern China, just south of Bejing.
This is the Nile Delta in Egypt.
This area is the western Greenland icesheet. It experiences the most surface melting on Earth and loses by far the most ice except a few glaciers which loose most of their ice to ocean currents and not warm air temperatures. Both images were taken in August
